Astral Traveling Session 10 – High Risk (Jazzagression -2019)

After a long winter break, let’s meet again, this coming Monday for a new Astral Traveling Listening Session 💫

Never before released as a proper LP until 2019, the 1974 recordings making up High Risk were only teased at the time on a self-released 7″. Recorded by an all-female band, the record prominently features the groundbreaking feminist poetry of Judy Grahn on the 15 minute-long opening track « The Common Woman ». The whole album, an impressive showcase of 70’s Soul Jazz mixed with Folk and Blues elements seamlessly moves from soaring instrumental parts to personal and politically charged lyrics, sometimes spoken, sometimes sung.
