Our third session will be dedicated to one of the enfants terribles of Polish Jazz: Tomasz Stańko and his 1972 album Jazzmessage from Poland.
Spearheading the Free Jazz wave in a country still under strong soviet cultural control, Stańko and his group – including ” the John Coltrane of the violin » Zbigniew Seifert – managed to liberate themselves from the heritage of their American peers, infusing Polish romanticism, folk sensibility and a strong sense of hope and spirituality in this classic piece of European Jazz.
